New: Interactive Wetlands map

Discovery Announcement

With “Mission to Marsh Discovery,” you can now explore and discover wetlands all over the world. We invite you to embark on real micro-adventures right in your own backyard or on your next trip.

With our new , free Discovery platform , we’ll show you bogs you can actually visit —featuring beautiful hiking trails, wooden boardwalks, and nature trails for the whole family.

Because at Mission to Marsh, we believe that protecting wetlands starts with a passion for nature. We need to move away from dry theory and into real-life experiences. We want to spark your curiosity and help you rediscover that sense of wonder.

Who We Are and Why We Do This

Mission to Marsh is a German NGO that believes in life on Earth. To that end, we protect and restore wetlands.

That’s because peatlands are true climate superheroes: Although they cover only 3% of the world’s land area, they store twice as much carbon as all the world’s forests combined! As gigantic water reservoirs, they cool entire landscapes and provide a safe haven for endangered animal and plant species. To inspire people worldwide to care about these ecosystems, we’re already working with strong partners like Patagonia, Entega, and Tomorrow.

Be part of the mission: Suggest your moors to us!

We’re kicking off the launch today with the most beautiful moors in Lower Saxony. But our goal is global—and to achieve it, we need the power of this community.

Which bog in your region is still missing from our map? Where is there a nature trail or hiking trail that the world absolutely has to see? Help us discover places we haven’t found yet!
