We bring dry lands back to life
Many moors are damaged by old drainage ditches. With your support, we are closing these ditches, replanting young peat mosses and removing alien trees such as bog pine. Every square meter that you make possible is a piece of reclaimed moorland.
We create space for biodiversity
When the moor stores water again, its inhabitants also return: dragonflies, rare birds and specialized plant species. We regularly monitor the water level and ensure that the ecosystem can develop in a stable manner. Your sponsorship contributes directly to the preservation of endangered species.

Every sponsorship becomes visible: you receive a certificate and regular insights into the development – with photos, monitoring data and stories from the field. This allows you to follow step by step how the moor is recovering thanks to your help.

FAQ about our
wetland sponsorships
How exactly is a wetland restored?
We close drainage ditches, build small dams, replant peat mosses and thus restore the natural water balance. As a result, the moor stores water and CO₂ again.
How are the areas selected?
We select areas that are particularly climate-relevant, i.e. that are currently losing a lot of CO₂, or that are important for endangered species. We work closely with authorities, scientists and local partners.
How do you really ensure long-term protection?
We combine long-term contracts with owners, local environmental protection organizations, scientific monitoring and legal protection (e.g. nature conservation areas). In this way, we ensure that the areas remain permanently wet and fulfill their climate function.
Why are you cutting down trees for renaturation?
Trees do not grow in an intact bog, but only if it has been drained, i.e. destroyed. Trees consume a lot of water in the moor and increase the drying out. Only when the invasive trees are removed can the moor be restored.
How will my sponsorship contribution be used?
Your contribution flows directly into the renaturation of moorland areas: Construction of dams, planting of peat mosses, monitoring of water levels and educational work to ensure long-term protection.
Without this investment, destroyed moors will never be able to regenerate.
How can I track the progress of my sponsorship?
You will receive regular updates via newsletter, photos and reports from the moors. In the future, you will even be able to view monitoring data and project progress on the website. You can even visit some of our moors, such as the Venner Moor near Osnabrück.
Can I give a wetland sponsorship as a gift?
Yes! moor sponsorships make a wonderful gift. You will receive an individual certificate that you can pass on to your loved ones – so you are not only giving the gift of joy, but also climate protection.
The certificate will be issued to you immediately after payment and will include your name, the name of the person receiving the gift and the amount of the donation converted into the amount of moorland protection made possible.
Am I making a long-term commitment with the sponsorship?
No, you decide for yourself. You can take out a sponsorship on a monthly, annual or one-off basis. You can withdraw at any time. The area you have protected will of course remain protected, even if you end your sponsorship.
How can I adjust or cancel my moor sponsorship?
It’s simple: just send us a short message to contact@missiontomarsh.org. Increases, breaks or cancellations are possible at any time.
Is that safe?
Yes, we only use certified payment providers (e.g. SEPA, credit card, PayPal) that transmit your data in encrypted form.
Which payment methods do you accept?
You can pay by direct debit, credit card or PayPal.
Can I deduct my donation from tax?
Yes, as a non-profit organization, we will automatically send you a donation receipt by e-mail at the end of the year.
