Who is behind the MOORATHON?

👋 Hi, that’s us, Anni & Alex!

Ann-Christin Kornelsen is the scientific heart of our mission. With her passion for the protection of peatlands, she is particularly active in scientific circles for the preservation of wetlands.

Alexander Kornelsen is an expert in innovation, new work and marketing whose passion for our mission shines through every facet of his work. With his ability to present complex ideas in a simple and engaging way, he inspires people all over the world to take an active role in preserving nature.

Together we founded Mission to Marsh in 2022. With the mission to protect peatlands. Since then, we have protected 250,000 m2 of peatland, raised €1.000,000 for marsh conservation and reached 100,000+ people.

Why peatland protection?

Peatlands are the climate heroes of our planet. They store more CO2 than all the world’s forests put together. In Germany, however, over 95% of peatlands have been destroyed and can therefore no longer absorb carbon. We will change this!

We work to protect wetlands by creating a movement to appreciate their extraordinary wildlife and plants, and to show how valuable they are through science, education, and projects.

How does my movement protect the peatland?

As a Moor-Athlete, you make a decisive contribution to saving and protecting valuable moorland landscapes. Your movement is rewarded by the sponsors in renaturation commitment, which we use to finance a renaturation project near Osnabrück in Lower Saxony. This means that a destroyed peatland will be restored and returned to a near-natural state.

In addition, the combination of sport and peatland protection enables a new type of public relations work for peatland protection and creates a community for the protection of important wetlands.

Is my data secure?

Yes, the security and protection of your data is very important to us at Mission to Marsh and Summitree. That’s why we act in strict compliance with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). This is how we ensure that your personal data is always safe and protected.

We use advanced technologies and security measures to protect your data from unauthorized access, misuse or loss. We are committed to processing and using your data only in accordance with our privacy policy. So you can rest assured that your data is in good hands with Summitree.
