MOORATHON 2026 Has Ended

100,000 square meters of peatland are being restored! What a perfect finish: What began 42 days ago as a bold vision is now a reality. On the very last day of our MOORATHON 2026, we crossed that magical threshold together.

MtM Moorathon26 September 13, 26

Over 5,000 people from all over Germany have gone above and beyond in recent weeks—whether it was their daily walk with the dog, biking to work, strenuous hikes through the moors, or a long Sunday run. Every single step, every pedal stroke, and every outing in the fresh air has directly contributed to our planet’s well-being. These small, everyday activities have literally turned into a nationwide movement for bog conservation.

Pure drama in the final meters: The Leaderboard Final

Not only did the overall standings remain exciting right up to the last minute, but there was also a thrilling neck-and-neck race at the top of the standings in the final stretch!

  • 1st Place: In a spectacular final sprint, Team ENTEGA mustered all their remaining strength, caught up to the title favorites, and deservedly secured first place!
  • 2nd Place: A huge compliment to Team Furries (led by YouTube veterinarian Karim), who led the pack for weeks and covered an incredible distance.
  • 3rd Place: The VfL Bad Nenndorf community fought its way to an impressive third-place finish—a fantastic team effort!

We tip our hats to all of you for this athletic and environmental feat!

Next stop: Spreewald!

The best part of this success is what comes next. Thanks to the kilometers you’ve all walked, we now have the necessary funds and energy to restore a large, contiguous stretch of wetland in the Spreewald. Degraded areas will soon be transformed back into a wet, CO2-storing, and species-rich habitat. We’ll, of course, keep you updated on every step of the restoration process through our channels!

A huge THANK YOU!

We want to say thank you from the bottom of our hearts: Thank you to every single person who laced up their running shoes, logged kilometers, and motivated friends. You are proof of how much we can achieve when we work together.

A very special thank you goes to our main partners, BILSTEIN, ENTEGA, and mkk – meine krankenkasse. Without your strong support, your belief in our vision, and the tremendous dedication of your internal teams, Mission to Marsh and an event of this magnitude would not have been possible.

The MOORATHON 2026 is over, but our mission continues. Thank you for being part of this journey! 💚🌱
